The Originals

Aside from reading (and now that I'm sort of on hiatus with fangirling), I love watching TV series. Starting last year, I have been watching probably around 15 different series (I know, nag-a-adik lang and walang life) and well, The Originals is actually NOT one of them. LOL. Thing is, The Originals is a spin-off of the series The Vampire Diaries and I'm behind by 2 seasons already with it. I thought that I need to have seen TVD for me to understand The Originals. But, as a friend said, I can watch it standalone. And he's right! :D.

Given that most of the series I'm watching is on a break and won't be back until mid-January, I finally had the time to sit down and watch The Originals. I'm glad I did. :)

The story is about the Mikaelson siblings, the world's first vampires, thus called, The Originals. There's Elijah, the eldest and the noble one; Rebekah, the youngest and Klaus, the strongest simply because aside from being an original vampire, he is an original hybrid (half-vampire, half-werewolf). A werewolf, Hayley, is pregnant with Klaus' child and is being used by witches to overthrow Marcel, current "ruler" of New Orleans and Klaus' protege. Klaus, with his siblings, returns to New Orleans to reclaim what is originally his city.

I'm really loving this series. And yes, I think it's better than TVD. I have a love and hate feelings towards Klaus. Originally, I'm all Elijah. But as I continue to watch, I'm suddenly having all this love for Klaus. His character is so tortured. He's a total ass. King of all asses. But just when I'm starting to think that I totally hate him, another side of him is shown, the lonely, tortured one just looking for acceptance and happiness, and I'm again loving him. Arrggh....

I can't wait for the comeback episode this January! :)

The Mentalist Season 2

I'm done with Season 2 of The Mentalist (yay!). Overall, it's still a fun watch. It's still odd how they solve each cases in every episode. I feel like what the rest of the team does just ends up to nothing much and in the end, they'd just do the actual arrest of the culprit since Jane almost usually is the one with a plan. But well, it's still good tv.. so what am I complaining about? LOL...

It's nice that something happened with the Rigsby-Van Pelt love angle. And Cho already has a girlfriend :). Though, I'm still frustrated that the Red John case is still out there! Will we ever see the end of him? Or will it resolved only if the series is already on its end? *sighs*... hahaha...

Oh, and it seems that there won't be a Jane-Lisbon love angle? LOL...

I'm now moving on to Season 3! This is the one that's currently airing :).

DVD Boxset Shopping

Yay! Mar kindly agreed to fill up a balikbayan box for me and Nikka. So excited over this that I wasted no time in ordering in Amazon. Actually, the boxsets are on sale and they're really a good deal so buy na!

Who'd be able to resist when this Glee Season 1 boxset is originally priced at $60 and I got it only for $14.99. No brainer! Add to cart!

Grey's Anatomy Seasons 1 and 6. I just borrowed Season 1 from Nikka and it's about time I get myself a copy. And of course Season 6 has just been released last year. Price: $15.49 (from $29.99) and $19.99 (from $59.99) respectively. Add to cart!

Ling was the one who suggested this series and gave me a downloaded copy of all seasons (including recent episodes from the current season 3). I loved the series and so, when I saw that Castle's 1st Season is less than $20 ($15.49), I have to get it too! Last one, add to cart!

Will definitely be waiting for more great deals from Amazon. After all, there's one big box to fill!

Criminal Minds DVD Boxsets

Finally! I already got my copies of Criminal Minds. Thanks to Mar (for Seasons 1-4) and Lyn (for Season 5)!

For those who doesn't know, Criminal Minds is an American procedural drama created Jeff Davis, produced by The Mark Gordon Company in association with CBS and ABC. It follows a team of profilers from FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit or BAU at Quantico, Virginia. The show is currently on its 6th season and airs every Wednesday on CBS.

I was instantly hooked when I started watching it. And the season enders are always the best :)

The Mentalist Season 1

Last year, I started getting into really watching US series. Late December, with most of the series I'm following are already on break, I looked for a new one to follow.. and voila! I ran into The Mentalist.

The Mentalist is another one of the many American procedural dramas out there created by Bruno Heller and airs on CBS. It follows the story Patrick Jane (played by Simon Baker), a consultant for the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI) who aids in homicide investigations with unorthodox methods.

Other casts include:

Senior Special Agent Teresa Lisbon played by Robin Tunney - the leader of the team that Patrick is part of.

Special Agent Grace Van Pelt played by Amanda Righetti - junior member of SSA Lisbon's team and often does research for the group.

Special Agent Kimball Cho played by Tim Kang - a member of SSA Lisbon's team with a dry sense of humor and is friends with Rigsby.

Special Agent Wayne Rigsby played by Owain Yeoman - a member of SSA Lisbon's team and serves as an arson specialist.

The series is currently on its 3rd season airing every Thursday.

I'm done with Season 1 today and I'm really liking it. Seems like Jane is a modern-day Sherlock Holmes. Liked the humor and find Rigsby's love for Van Pelt cute and sweet (ever the romantic in me ;)). And of course, it doesn't hurt that Simon Baker is such a cutie! I wonder if Jane and Lisbon would get together one day. haha..

On to Season 2! :)
