Snowpiercer

The movie is definitely not for the faint of heart. Conchi & I watched it flinching and not looking at the screen a lot of times. haha... I don't know which exactly made me like the movie. I can't outright say that I didn't like it and yet I cannot pinpoint why I like it. So, well, maybe I do like it. hahaha :)

Ewan! Til the next movie :)

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit

I wish that I'm a movie buff... Sad to say, I only usually watch about 5 movies in a year. I guess I really am just more of a bookaholic and into tv series than movies. :/ But who knows, maybe this year would be different. :)

Anyways, I watched my first movie for the year. Since my friend is on a Chris Pine rush, we went on an impromptu movie date and saw, yes, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. I really enjoyed the movie - ma-aksyon in fairness. Natawa lang kami, superman si Jack Ryan! hahaha.... injured na, nabangga na sha ng naka-motorbike pero nakatayo parin! bibo! :) Still, enjoy parin naman.

And oh, Chris Pine has got one of the most amazing blue eyes I've seen. Saya siguro siya katitigan! :)

Thor The Dark World

I've never been much of an avid movie-goer. But who wouldn't want to see a half-naked Thor? LOL. Anyways, since I can still remember gushing all about all that is godly Thor in the last movie, I was definitely up to watching the latest Thor movie - in 3D... in Imax. :p

I've managed to drag (not really, bilang kasama ko siya drooling over Thor the last time) Conchi with me.  We met at FullyBooked, The Block (as per usual) and then had an early dinner at Mary Grace. After which, Thor na eto!

I really enjoyed the movie. I think it's funnier than the first one. Ang dami kong tawa especially the ones with Loki. Tom Hiddleston is just awesome (have I mentioned that I've been fangirling for a little bit now). He's such a cutie! And he really did give Loki justice. He might have actually stolen the show, in my opinion. And wala paring chemistry whatsoever si Natalie Portman and Chris Hemsworth. *sighs* Try as I might, di man lang ako kinilig sa kanila. Kay Thor lang ako kinilig. LOL. The train scene was so cute (though wrong info daw yung nasabi dun, whatever...)!

I can't wait for the next Marvel movie.. Captain America, I think.. and Avengers 2 (though, sadly Loki is sitting this one out).

Epic End....

An epic end to an epic series... No other words but awesome for this movie... I really felt sad watching this today.. *sniff* *sniff*.. I think it's time to re-read everything again and go back to the world of Harry Potter and Hogwarts :)

I'm pretty sure there would be an awesome boxset of the movies that will be released soon. Can't wait! :)

Transformers: Dark of the Moon Date

It's another movie date with Conchi and Kathy and this time, it's Transformers Dark of the Moon. :) As usual, Conchi and I met at Fullybooked, SM The Block. Yes, I did buy some books (Jaci Burton's The Perfect Play in Trade Paperback - my 3rd copy and Josephine Angelini's Starcrossed). We then went up and got our movie tickets. OA! ang haba ng pila! We even tried buying the tix online but the connection was so slow and so inabot narin kami na sa counter. There were a lot of available seats naman pala so keri lang. :) After getting the tix, we waited for Kathy and then had a late lunch at Tender Bob's (yum, pork chops!). During lunch we started our "copy sessions". LOL.. I'm back watching Asian dramas and this time around, I copied loads of Korean dramas.

Time to watch the movie! I think this one was better than the 2nd installment (too long fight scenes >_<). I actually enjoyed it and really had some laughs during the movie. At in fairness, slightly cutie na si Shia LaBeouf.. I guess because may laman na siyang konti? hahhaa.. Of course, hotness si Josh Duhamel though I wish he had more scenes. :) Patrick Dempsey's character is a wimp. LOL. I really didn't like him there. The effects I think were kick-ass. I enjoyed the 3D though i think there were times that it was blurry. Nawawala yung sharpness.. or maybe it's because of the glasses? HAHAHA....

Till our next movie date! It seems like it's gonna be Captain America... Sino kaya mayaya to watch Harry Potter? :)

Pahabol, I managed to get pala Aly Carter's Uncommon Criminals at NBS in Annex. LOL..

And congratulations to the Azkals for winning against Sri-Lanka, 4-0! :).

X-Men First Class

Came back from another movie date with Conchi and Jerome. Conchi and I met up at FullyBooked (where else?), The Block, stayed there for a couple of minutes while waiting for Kathy... But we got hungry so we went to Annex and looked for a place to eat. We decided on Chinese food, so we again chose the President Tea House (this time hindi kami mashado nabusog...). Kathy met us there... So, after the late lunch, we headed back to The Block for X-Men First Class :). Really great movie. I had an awesome time watching and seeing Professor-X and Magneto before they were Professor-X and Magneto. A time when they were friends and are just Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsher. Seeing the other young mutants and showing off their powers to themselves were also fun. I really liked the balance of the movie - that it wasn't too cheesy and it wasn't too brutal or too much effects. :) I guess it's also a plus that I'm not a follower of the comics so I don't care much even if they changed details - big or not. Now, I kinda would like to read the comics and try to see the difference. haha...

Til the next movie date :)

Family Day and Fast Five

It's rare that we get to convince our Dad to come and go out with us. But this time around, he agreed and it's a Family Day for us! :)

We first had our lunch at Max's. In fairness, I enjoyed their service in their Trinoma branch. very courteous and friendly lahat ng staff who assisted us... :)

Anyways, after lunch, my mom, sister and brother went off to watch In the Name of Love. The screening time of the movie is earlier than ours so, I had time to go to Powerbooks and browse around. And yes, I did buy some books - A Feast for Crows (Book 4 in the Song of Ice and Fire series) by George R. Martin and Victoria Alexander's The Perfect Mistress.

After Powerbooks, we headed to Cinema 5 to catch Fast 5 with my Dad and Kuya Rommel.

Fast 5 was ok but not really the breathtaking, awesome movie that I was expecting. I guess, for me, I've seen other better Heist movies than this one. But I have to admit that the car scene, was of course, awesome :). How coordinated they were, etc.. And it didn't hurt that Vin Diesel and Paul Walker were there.. yum! hahaha :)

After the movie, we just wandered around the mall.. and well, the last stop was at Fullybooked. hahaha.. I got 3 more books! Richard Castle's Heat Wave and Nikki Heat in hardcover (I love the Castle series - obvious ba!) and David Baldacci's Hour Game.. so, yeah 5 books in all :)

It really was a great day! Hope we get to do this more often! :)

Thor

Chris Hemsworth.. Ikaw na! Ikaw na ang may ABS! hahaha :)....

When Nikka told me that I should watch Thor because of the abs (LOL)... I asked my friend Conchi to watch with me... And so we went! It was ok.. I really did have some laughs during the movie. Favorite would have to be when he said "I need a horse...". LOL.. I think though that it was a bit cheesy. haha.. And I it felt like the build up of the story wasn't too great. Especially the love story angle. Maybe because I didn't see the chemistry of Natalie and Chris that's why the instant connection that I should see wasn't there? =p. Anyways, it was still an OK watch.. even just to see Chris' abs and his amazingly beautiful eyes *sighs*

Catch Me... I'm In Love

To celebrate my Mom's 65th birthday, we went to Trinoma to watch Sarah and Gerald's movie Catch Me... I'm In Love.

I've heard a lot of feedback that they really liked this movie. And in fairness, enjoy naman pala talaga siya.

The movie is about Roxanne, a simple social worker, who was assigned to look out for none other than the President's stubborn and troublemaker son. They eventually ended up together but because of insecurities, they had to part ways.

It was a kilig movie. And really, when did Gerald turned so hunky? HAHAHAHA.... Siya na! Siya na ang top reason ba't ko na-like ang movie. LOL..

Aside from that, I think the secondary characters did good, especially Roxanne's family. They were really funny. And there were really kilig moments that even the others watching the movie were giggling and laughing with the characters. Though personally, I think the John Lloyd-Sarah tandem had the more kilig factor. I think they have more chemistry together than Sarah and Gerald. And Matteo's character wasn't really developed as the other guy in the story (maybe it wasn't really meant to be that?). Anyways, I was kinda hoping that there would be a kissing scene (come on! this is a love story... hahahhaa). But since it's Sarah, wala talaga. Which was bummer! and made me wish that it was Kim Chu instead.. hahaha

Can't Buy Me Love - Pre-McDreamy

My first movie for the year and it had to be an old classic flick. Hahaha :). Anyways, how'd I stumbled into this? Last week, Ate Gi and I got into talking about Patrick Dempsey (and really hope that she'll see him in the flesh.. I'm begging her to ask for an autograph for me.. LOL). And she said that he'll always be the geek in Can't Buy Me Love and she somehow can't believe he turned into one hunkababe. Yes, I remember Can't Buy Me Love and I remember that it was, indeed, McDreamy... err. At least it was him before he became McDreamy. I guess, the movie got stuck in my head and I decided to look for it and the next thing I know, I was re-watching this good ol' 80's movie.

Can't Buy Me Love is all about Ronald Miller, a High School senior geek who's tired of well, being geek. So, he made a deal with the head of the cheerleading squad for $1000 to be his girlfriend for a month. His plan worked and he became part of the "In" crowd and so started the problem.

It really was old school HS 80's classic. It was fun seeing all those hair, shoulder pads, outfits, etc.. It was a simple love story.. with that same High School dilemma. The popular ones.. and the outcasts.. The outcasts just trying to fit in. I enjoyed rewatching the movie - just to see that 80's look. And of course seeing Patrick Dempsey being a geek. Who would have thought that this...

would become this?

*sighs* McDreamy! :)

Oh, it was cute seeing Seth Green there too as Ronald's little brother, Chuck!

I tried researching for Amanda Peterson who played Cindy Mancini (the cheerleader) and it seems like she already quit acting back in '95. Hahaha.. I was thinking, wouldn't it be cute if she guest stars in Grey's Anatomy? LOL...
