Goodbye 2011

Wow! It's been awhile since I've blogged. October pa pala >_<. Oh well...

Today's the last day of 2011. How time flies... 2011 had been a rollercoaster ride... There are lots of times that it's been so hard, esp the last few months. Despite all of that, I'm still very thankful to our Almighty for all the blessings that He has given me and my whole family. I'm very thankful for all the strength that He has showered us and grateful for letting us know that He is indeed by our side ALWAYS.

 

This year taught  me to be thankful for each and every day that I get to spend with my friends and with my family. Very specially with my family.

This year brought me back to Him. Lean to Him more. Listen more.. Follow more.

Salamat po Ama sa lahat lahat.

A Chapter Ended Today...

It's my last day at work today... 

Wheew! After 8 years and 8 months, I left my comfort zone. I'm not sad and more of excited, really. I guess it really was a long time coming. I think it's now my time to bid my goodbye.

A chapter ended today... and very soon, a new chapter is about to start :)

Only Five in April!?

I was cleaning up a bit today and as I was going through my books, I realized that for April, I've only bought 5 books so far! 5 books! Xtine said someone took the real Ochie... Nikka said that I might be sick... LOL... I can't believe it myself...

tsk tsk... There's still one more week to go! Maybe, I can still redeem myself. Hahaha... Aja!

This Is It!

and so the real countdown begins.... waited for this one for sometime now. As we said, paubusan ng EQ eto.. But after the long wait, it finally pushed through. And so, after 8 1/2 years in my comfort zone, I'm leaving. It's time for something new and something better and really, it wasn't that hard of a decision to make.

Month Recap: March 2011

Anothe month has ended! And yes, the 1st quarter of the year is also done! Ambilis bilis!

Nothing really happened much in March. This is the month of waiting.. waiting.. and more waiting.. ! Hoping that by next month, everything would be final already. And by then, a major move will happen :) Something better... And yes, something to really look forward to.

And more of my March:

- Managed to add 11 books in My TBR List. Current count is at 274.

- Read a total of 32 books this month! Most of them are still not in  My TBR List. LOL.. At puro smut parin!

- Finally watched 2 movies! hahaha... Though one is a re-watch but still, a movie is a movie!

Month Recap: January 2011

Time really does fly fast huh? Seems like we're all ushering in the new year and now, the 1st month of the year is already on its last day. :) So far, what have I done? Hmm, first off, I've managed to open this blog. It's really been awhile since I've blogged. I originally have one in LJ but it's been a long time since I last updated. I've really just been too lazy to really write anything before. And now, I guess I got that rhythm back :). When before, I've been writing about my fangirling escapades and my idols, now I noticed that most of my posts are on books! My real first love I guess. Hopefully, I get to write more about other stuff too. Since I'm doing more reading now, I think you'll see more of me writing about books (or book buys!). haha

More of my January...

- I've checked at least one of my 2011 Challenge. LOL... well, at least I didn't add anything on the list (far cry from my TBR list =p).

- Read 10 out of 244 books on My TBR List. Current count is at 244 *winks*.

- Managed to add 15 books in My TBR List. LOL.. I started out at 229. I wonder how many will I add next month?

- Read a total of 12 books this month! 2 not in My TBR list - Tabitha Suzuma's Forbidden and Jennifer Crusie's Getting Rid of Bradley.

- Joined The 50 States Reading Challenge 2011 and I've now checked off 6 States. 44 more to go!

- Got a couple of DVD boxsets to add to my collection - Glee (S01), Grey's Anatomy (S01 and S06), and Castle (S01)

- Managed to update myself with the latest season of Castle (awesome show!) and finished 2 Seasons of The Mentalist (next month, I'll definitely be updated as well!). Oh, and started with Off the Map also.. it's still only on it's 3rd episode and I'm liking it :).

- Got myself an iPod Touch. My favorite gadget at the moment. It's not just my music player. It's also my camera, organizer, e-book reader... etc etc. I'm saying, I'm definitely NOT disappointed :). It's one of my best buys of the year :)

Hmmm.. I still have a lot to do... Hopefully, I'll stop lazing around next month and really do something ... just cross off more on my goals for this year. :)

My favorite month starts tomorrow! :)

9 Hours!

The average time that I spend in the office (excluding lunch hour) is between 10 - 11 hours. It frustrates me when I log out from our Time Log and see that my total hours are between these times.. haha.. I even thought that our time log tool does not exlude lunch hour because even if I was pretty sure that I'll get only 9 hours total, I still get more than that! Our old time-keeper swears it excludes lunch hour. Fine! So I told her that it's my goal to get 9 hours total.. even for just one day...

And today... I finally fulfilled that goal! bahahaha... I was so shocked that I had to take a screencap. LOL

Friday Night with Old Friends :)

Mae and I knew each other since we were in grade school. We met Jobert when we were in High School. And years after, we try to meet up every once in a while. And it was last year since we last met - too long if you ask me. And so with a Wallpost in FB, I got Mae to finally meet up with me for dinner. I txted Jobert if he wanted to join us and being the kaladkarin that he is (hahaha), he said yes. :)

We met up at 7pm at Trinoma and had dinner at Man Hann. Over some Spicy Spare Ribs, Soy Chicken and Beef Brocolli, we mainly updated each other with our lives. Taking about old friends, where they are now, etc. etc. It's just the usual talk that you get with friends you haven't seen for some time. In short, it was fun! :). Sometime later, we had to go since Job had to somewhere else to meet other friends. But before that, he brought us to National Bookstore and bought Mae and I a copy of I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore! Job and I are avid readers. Mae not so much (=p). She kept teasing us that we're freaks to still be able to read so much. And of course, she said that she will read the book and will keep us updated on what chapter she's already in etc. etc. Let's see if she follows through. haha..

Thanks again Jobert for the book! This makes My TBR List count 230!

After Job left, Mae and I just decided to head home. Since she's the one with the car, hinatid nya ko :). When we arrived home, my mom and siblings were at the gates, so Mae decided to go down and greet them. My family were really glad to have her come visit again. Since it's been a really long time that they've seen her! :) And so, Mae stayed for awhile and chatted with the whole fam.

It was a great night! And Mae promised that she'll be back for my birthday. Haha.. I really hope that we could meet up regularly from now on. It's always awesome to be with old friends :).

Saturday Afternoon with Friends

Conchi, Kathy and I would usually meetup occasionally just to relax, eat and have fun together. Though during the last few meet-ups, it's just Conchi and me. Si Kathy biglang nawawala :). Before 2010 ended, Conchi and I scheduled a meet-up for the 8th of Jan. We contacted Kathy and asked if she could come. She has plans already but we txted her again and she still came with us. Yey!

At 1pm, Conchi and I met up at Fullybooked, The Block (our usual place). Of course, before we headed out for our late lunch (which we still didn't know where), we had to browse around the bookstore. Conchi got 2 books for herself and I got 1, Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. I saw this posted by Fullybooked in FB and decided to try it out. It's about Clay Jensen finding a box of tapes made by Hannah Baker who committed suicide. The tapes explains the 13 reasons why she decided to kill herself. Interesting huh? :)

After Fullybooked, we met up with Kathy and headed to Annex to look for food. We ended up having a late lunch at the President's Tea House, a Chinese resto. Pretty ok food - we had seafood fried rice, seafood pancit canton, mapo tofu, beef broccoli and some dimsum. We didn't get to take pretty good pics of the food (forgot, again! =p).

After our lunch, Kathy went back to The Block to meet with her clients i think. Conchi and I headed to the WorldVision booth to do our goal for the day. I've been wanting to sponsor a child since 2010 but never got around to it until now.

Yeah, i sponsor a child! :) Happy!

Next stop is at NBS Booksellers. I was so happy that I was able to find the books that I like. 1st is the William and Kate book by Christopher Andersen. I guess it's because all of the historical romance reading that I am now very much interested with Royalty. :) Another book that I got that's a great surprise is The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan in paperback. Hoooraayyyyyyy!! I've waited for a long time for this. You see, my copies of the Percy Jackson books are all in paperback and being OC, I wanted the last book to be in paperback as well. Tiis ito! And when I saw it at Booksellers, I grabbed myself a copy. I even asked when it arrived (LOL) and the girl said that it just arrived today. Lucky! I'm pretty amazed that National releases books earlier than Fullybooked or Powerbooks these days.

After our (or my) bookshopping, Conchi and I found ourselves inside the Apple store. We just wanted to look around (promise!). And after I've been debating whether to get an iPad or a Samsung Galaxy Tab, I finally got myself a new toy - an iPod Touch! LOL... Di kami pwede magsama ni Conchi, BI kami sa isa't isa. She also got herself one. HAHAHA.. There were only 2 64gb left and it's a sign! so bili na kami. Next thing we know, we're heading to the accessories section and choosing our casings. LOL :) As of now, I'm happily downloading and adding apps. Wala pa ngang songs! And we still have yet to try out Face Time.

Happy with our purchases, we headed to Caffe Ti-Amo and tried out their coffee and waffle gelato. Yum! There, we waited for Kathy to show up again. While waiting, we started our file exchange. hahaha! I got some new series to watch - Without a Trace, Big Bang Theory and House. And of course, when Kathy arrived, kwentuhan to the max parin. :)

Oh, and before I forget, I got this really awesome shirt from Conchi. It's from their own company creation. Nice noh? Thanks Conchi! :)

Today was really a day spent well with great friends! We've made it a pact to meet-up every 1st Saturday of the month (at the least).

Dex and Laarni - To Forever

What better way to start the year? - a Wedding! :)

Dex and Laarni are college sweethearts.. and after 9 years, they finally decided to tie the knot this 2nd of January 2011 at the Gazebo Royale in Quezon City.

Not to be left out, I played dress up and went with Gbert, Rain and Roche to witness their union.
