2014 Reading Challenges

I've always wanted to complete some reading challenges for the past years. Sadly, I was only able to complete the GoodReads reading challenge (and it's the only one I was really able to keep track of!). Anyways, for this year, I'll TRY (sorry, favorite book, dipa maka-move on) again, to do some reading challenges. I wonder how much I'll be able to accomplish by the end of the year.

I think most of the ones I chose do NOT require a review, since I'm too lazy to do real reviews. I haven't "officially" signed-up (except for the GoodReads one), but well, I'll just post their links anyways. Also, I'm still thinking of how I'll be able to track the books for the challenges. Let's see!

A-Z Reading Challenge

This was actually a reading challenge from a Goodreads group that I'm a member of - Fans of Eloisa James & Julia Quinn .

12 Months. 26 Books. Either the first word in the title of the books or the author’s name (first or last) should correspond with a letter in the alphabet. “a” and “the” should be omitted from the titles. Letters Q, X and Z can be positioned anywhere in the titles or author names.

This is a Romance group but they allow other genres to be read as well.

For myself, I'm thinking of limiting this to just "Titles" (depends if it would be too hard to look for titles! haha) and to the Romance genre :).

Now, this one I've been TRYing to complete since 2011! But, still no success. The challenge is hosted by Book Obsessed . I'm not sure if they'll be hosting one for 2014 (no sign-up page yet).

And I'm also trying to read books from the NPR Lists that we've got way back! For some reason, I read a LOT but everytime I look at lists, it seems like I'm still not reading enough. :( I hope that I get to read some from those lists as well.

Ohh, and yes, I've ditched my goal to finish reading my TBR list. I finally realized that my list will forever be long! :D.. What can I say, I'm a book hoarder! I've decided to just enjoy and read from the pile as leisurely as I can :)

Blog... Blog... Blog

It's been awhile since I've written anything. Well, it's a New Year and feel ko na ulit mag-blog. I just hope meron akong ma-i-blog. Not even sure what to write! :D.. And I'm afraid I might turn this page into a book blog. But then, tamad din naman ako to do actual reviews! And isn't that's what Goodreads is supposed to be for? :p.

Hmm.. Anyways, I guess if the mood strikes and whatever comes to mind, I'll try to blog. And I'll TRY hard! (*giggles* - sorry, just thought of something - book related something with the TRY thing).

Sorry if the updates are going to be mostly about books - I might be spending most of my year reading. And well, probably TV series updates or whatnot. Bahala na.

I'm rambling. And I don't think I'm making any sense.

Thor The Dark World

I've never been much of an avid movie-goer. But who wouldn't want to see a half-naked Thor? LOL. Anyways, since I can still remember gushing all about all that is godly Thor in the last movie, I was definitely up to watching the latest Thor movie - in 3D... in Imax. :p


I've managed to drag (not really, bilang kasama ko siya drooling over Thor the last time) Conchi with me.  We met at FullyBooked, The Block (as per usual) and then had an early dinner at Mary Grace. After which, Thor na eto!

I really enjoyed the movie. I think it's funnier than the first one. Ang dami kong tawa especially the ones with Loki. Tom Hiddleston is just awesome (have I mentioned that I've been fangirling for a little bit now). He's such a cutie! And he really did give Loki justice. He might have actually stolen the show, in my opinion. And wala paring chemistry whatsoever si Natalie Portman and Chris Hemsworth. *sighs* Try as I might, di man lang ako kinilig sa kanila. Kay Thor lang ako kinilig. LOL. The train scene was so cute (though wrong info daw yung nasabi dun, whatever...)!

I can't wait for the next Marvel movie.. Captain America, I think.. and Avengers 2 (though, sadly Loki is sitting this one out).

Blogging

Hay, I miss blogging. But, my muse left me, I guess. Or tamad lang talaga... I really want to post something new. Pero, ewan! I hope I'd be able to get back to this soon (at hindi next year... hahahha).

My To Be Read List

Happy New Year Everyone! :)

And I was able to finally update my TBR List. I hope that I haven't forgotten anything... So, start off, I have 352 Books in my list (WHOAH! as in WHOAH)... I think I need to stop buying for now and start reading :))).

2011 Challenge - Pass or Fail?

At the beginning of 2011, I listed out things that I want to accomplish during the year. Now, it's time to see if I was able to accomplish the said list :))

My 2011 List goes like:

- Sponsor a child through World Vision. CHECK! - PASS! see here
- Cut my TBR pile by at least half. (Kung ilan man siya by end of year. haha). - EPIC FAIL >_<. I didn't even get to update my list. I actually bought more than read more. Hahaha.. I don't think I even read 1/4 of the titles from the list. Maybe in 2012? :)))
- Have my books covered. - FAIL. :(.. I have the plastic cover though! :)))
- Arrange all my PC files - pics, docs, vids, music, everything! - FAIL. Errrmmm.... Since I started to get active in the fandom this year, I've got loads of new downloads.. ergo.. I wasn't able to fix them yet.. LOL >_<
- Setup inventory of my books. - FAIL. Still not started >_<
- Create my personal bookplate and have it in all my books. - FAIL. I got a couple of designs in mind but I haven't got around to printing them out and sticking them in my books.
- Start my money/coin collection. - PASS. Yay! :))). I got a couple already but still need to setup inventory for them.
- Learn a sport. Not exactly me playing but just learn the basics so I can watch and enjoy. =p. - What sport? FAIL >_<
- Complete my Harry Potter books. (2 years ko na sinusubukan to). - PASS! Finally, I've completed all! Wuhooo!
- Read at least 10 Classics. - FAIL. LOL. Have not read even 1
- Try out other book genres. Tama na ang puro smut! - PASS? I think. Thing is, at least I've read books that are not smut :)))))
- Watch more movies. I don't even know how I'll quantify "more" kase hindi ko naman nabilang yung last year. - PASS. I think so as well. i definitely have watched more movies this year than last year.
- Clean up my mails - personal and work. Burahin and kelangan burahin. I-archive ang kelangan i-archive. - Half-Pass/Half-Fail.. LOL. It's because I have a new job. so Work mail has been cleaned up. My personal mail though still need cleaning!

LOL.. OK, I think I got more FAIL than PASS! >_<. So much for my list. Still, it's been fun to really create my list and try to cross out stuff from the list. I think I'll do another one next year. and carry over my FAIL stuff from this year to the next. Malay ko kung ma-PASS ko na siya next year :))).

Goodbye 2011

Wow! It's been awhile since I've blogged. October pa pala >_<. Oh well...

Today's the last day of 2011. How time flies... 2011 had been a rollercoaster ride... There are lots of times that it's been so hard, esp the last few months. Despite all of that, I'm still very thankful to our Almighty for all the blessings that He has given me and my whole family. I'm very thankful for all the strength that He has showered us and grateful for letting us know that He is indeed by our side ALWAYS.

 

This year taught  me to be thankful for each and every day that I get to spend with my friends and with my family. Very specially with my family.

This year brought me back to Him. Lean to Him more. Listen more.. Follow more.

Salamat po Ama sa lahat lahat.
