Fathers' Day

We've managed to drag our Dad out of the house. And it's to celebrate Fathers' Day! :)

It's been raining pretty hard since morning pero wa kami care. We really wanted to celebrate. So, off we go to Trinoma. Lunch is at Abe's.. Delicious! Really enjoyed their Crispy Pork Adobo ni Lola Ising and Pastel de Lengua. Not much a fan of the Sinigang na Bangus Belly with Ripe Guava (though my brother liked it. haha). We also had Knockout Knuckle (their Crispy Pata) and Binukadkad na Pla-Pla.

After lunch, we headed to an eye shop and had my Dad test for new glasses. In fairview, malaki talaga ang discount for senior citizens. Nakakatawa si Dad, he whispered to me after deciding the type of lens he wants, "Baka mainggit si mama, bili mo narin siya." :) :)... Haha.. My mom's glasses are still ok, btw.

After getting his glasses, we just wandered around and shopped! Ahahhaha... My mom bought Popoy his b-day gift (I think) and I bought my sister hers. They both celebrated their birthdays this June. I also wasn't able to resist getting new shoes! They're adorable! :)

And of course, I had another book splurge! :)

I finally made use of my Powerbooks GCs and they made me use my e-purse (it turns out they'll be launching a new Powercard soon so they want their buyers to make use of the old points). Anyways, I got all these and paid only about 500 pesos! O diba... joy :)

I also got these at Fullybooked.

So, yeah, nabawasan na yung list ko of "To Buys". Sana yung rate ng pagbawas sa list ko of "To Buys" eh ganun din yung rate ng pagbawas sa "To Be Read" list ko. Hahahaha!

It really was a great Sunday with the Fam! I'm thinking of making this kind of family bonding at least once a month :). Next month we'll be celebrating my Dad and Mom's 41st Wedding Anniversary :).

Again, Happy Fathers' Day Daddy! Love You! :)

Friday Book Spree

One thing I love about our new work is that we get to get home while the sun is still up. :) Since, we are happy this week, Nikka and I went straight to Fullybooked, High Street after work. Joy! I was able to get some new books and scratch off things on my "To Buy" list. yey!

This round, I got the following:

Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma - we were really surprised that it's already available here. I was thinking of having Mike (who is currently in the UK for work) buy the book for me. Ayan, I can now think of other titles to ask him to get for me. hehe

Clarity by Kim Harrington - I saw this in one of the book blogs that I'm following. It looks interesting so it's on my "To Buy" list for awhile now.

Scottish Brides by Christina Dodd, Stephanie Laurens, Julia Quinn and Kareny Raney - Since completing Julia Quinn's works is one of my life's bucket list (haha), I finally got this one. Two more books to go and I will complete everthing! :)

Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin - This book title has been available in bookstores for a longtime now. I only became interested when I saw the movie trailer. The movie looks and sounds really good (and I've heard good feedback about the movie) and I was curious. But the releases had all been the Movie-Tie-In cover lately. When I found this version available, I grabbed one for myself. Nikka was even telling me to also get the other books already, but I didn't relent. hahahha.. nakaka-No parin naman pala ko.

Forgottten by Cat Patrick - Now, this is a new one for me. We just came across it while looking for books. Mukha namang interesting so sige na nga! :)

How I love taking home new books! :)

X-Men First Class

Came back from another movie date with Conchi and Jerome. Conchi and I met up at FullyBooked (where else?), The Block, stayed there for a couple of minutes while waiting for Kathy... But we got hungry so we went to Annex and looked for a place to eat. We decided on Chinese food, so we again chose the President Tea House (this time hindi kami mashado nabusog...). Kathy met us there... So, after the late lunch, we headed back to The Block for X-Men First Class :). Really great movie. I had an awesome time watching and seeing Professor-X and Magneto before they were Professor-X and Magneto. A time when they were friends and are just Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsher. Seeing the other young mutants and showing off their powers to themselves were also fun. I really liked the balance of the movie - that it wasn't too cheesy and it wasn't too brutal or too much effects. :) I guess it's also a plus that I'm not a follower of the comics so I don't care much even if they changed details - big or not. Now, I kinda would like to read the comics and try to see the difference. haha...

Til the next movie date :)

Books!

One thing I needed after this very hot day is to de-stress. I went out today with some friends to fix stuff for our new adventure and it wasn't as easy as we thought it was gonna be. *sighs* And of course, to add to it, it's a very very hot day!

Anyways, to de-stress, we headed to one of my favorite places - a bookstore! Initially, Nikka and I set our quota to buy only 2 books each.. I *coughs* *coughs* cheated. LOL.. When we went together at Powerbooks, I did buy just 2.. But before heading home, I passed by National Bookstore in Quezon Ave as well and got 2 more *grins*

So, it's a total of 4 books for me.. Sorry Nikka gurl! Can't resist :)

The ones I got from Powerbooks:

The Chaos by Rachel Ward - Book 2 of the Numbers series. I'm still looking for Numbers hehehe.. but Nikka already persuaded me to get this one.

Gods of Manhattan by Scott Mebus - Another series about the gods from Greek Mythology, so why not?

The ones I got from NBS:

Her Not-So-Secret Diary by Anne Oliver - A Mills and Boons book. ang mahal na ng M&B ha! hehehe.. Oh well, my smut for the day =D.

Ruins of Gorlan (Book 1 of the Ranger's Apprentice) - I was supposed to get this in Powerbooks but it's not available. When I saw this in NBS, I gave in and got a copy! hahaha :)

Family Day and Fast Five

It's rare that we get to convince our Dad to come and go out with us. But this time around, he agreed and it's a Family Day for us! :)

We first had our lunch at Max's. In fairness, I enjoyed their service in their Trinoma branch. very courteous and friendly lahat ng staff who assisted us... :)

Anyways, after lunch, my mom, sister and brother went off to watch In the Name of Love. The screening time of the movie is earlier than ours so, I had time to go to Powerbooks and browse around. And yes, I did buy some books - A Feast for Crows (Book 4 in the Song of Ice and Fire series) by George R. Martin and Victoria Alexander's The Perfect Mistress.

After Powerbooks, we headed to Cinema 5 to catch Fast 5 with my Dad and Kuya Rommel.

Fast 5 was ok but not really the breathtaking, awesome movie that I was expecting. I guess, for me, I've seen other better Heist movies than this one. But I have to admit that the car scene, was of course, awesome :). How coordinated they were, etc.. And it didn't hurt that Vin Diesel and Paul Walker were there.. yum! hahaha :)

After the movie, we just wandered around the mall.. and well, the last stop was at Fullybooked. hahaha.. I got 3 more books! Richard Castle's Heat Wave and Nikki Heat in hardcover (I love the Castle series - obvious ba!) and David Baldacci's Hour Game.. so, yeah 5 books in all :)

It really was a great day! Hope we get to do this more often! :)

A Chapter Ended Today...

It's my last day at work today...

Wheew! After 8 years and 8 months, I left my comfort zone. I'm not sad and more of excited, really. I guess it really was a long time coming. I think it's now my time to bid my goodbye.

A chapter ended today... and very soon, a new chapter is about to start :)

Wish me luck! :)

Thor

Chris Hemsworth.. Ikaw na! Ikaw na ang may ABS! hahaha :)....

When Nikka told me that I should watch Thor because of the abs (LOL)... I asked my friend Conchi to watch with me... And so we went! It was ok.. I really did have some laughs during the movie. Favorite would have to be when he said "I need a horse...". LOL.. I think though that it was a bit cheesy. haha.. And I it felt like the build up of the story wasn't too great. Especially the love story angle. Maybe because I didn't see the chemistry of Natalie and Chris that's why the instant connection that I should see wasn't there? =p. Anyways, it was still an OK watch.. even just to see Chris' abs and his amazingly beautiful eyes *sighs*

Only Five in April!?

I was cleaning up a bit today and as I was going through my books, I realized that for April, I've only bought 5 books so far! 5 books! Xtine said someone took the real Ochie... Nikka said that I might be sick... LOL... I can't believe it myself...

tsk tsk... There's still one more week to go! Maybe, I can still redeem myself. Hahaha... Aja!

This Is It!

and so the real countdown begins.... waited for this one for sometime now. As we said, paubusan ng EQ eto.. But after the long wait, it finally pushed through. And so, after 8 1/2 years in my comfort zone, I'm leaving. It's time for something new and something better and really, it wasn't that hard of a decision to make.

Wish me luck! :)
